South/South West 15-20 knots Low Tide

Captain Al

Not recommended to go.

Wind was a direct shot into the cove. 2 ft breaking waves. Bow out required, no access to the ladder, no loading or offloading anything that can not get wet. Boat needs line run from the back of the boat to the East Jetty. Rock anchor is tight and definitely has pressure. Back up boat anchor is strongly recommended. West side of the Jetty has a rock pile about 10 feet out at Low tide. Using this spot for the backup anchor is a good idea but if it gets stuck be prepared to leave it behind to retrieve at a later date. While leaving Port Jefferson seems fine, with wind from S/SW, the waves build up quickly. Only experienced Captains should try this landing, if a mistake is made, you will lose the boat on the rocks.
